Jaguar is committed to respecting internationally recognized human rights as stated on the International Bill of Human Rights (consisting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights) and the principles relating to fundamental rights established in the International Labour Organization Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
We are committed to continuously complying with United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights. Everyone who works for, or on behalf of Jaguar is responsible for ensuring that this policy is implemented.
To achieve these goals, we commit:
- To identify and address human rights risks on an ongoing basis and conduct human rights due diligence before significant investments.
- To avoid causing or contributing to adverse human rights impacts, to remediate any adverse impacts that we may cause or to which we contribute; and take all necessary steps to guarantee that our operations are not directly linked through our business relationships to adverse impacts on human rights.
- To engage meaningfully with our communities and obtain broad community support throughout the project life cycle, including, where appropriate, using traditional community governance mechanisms and obtaining the perspectives of vulnerable groups, including women and elder.
- To obtain the informed agreement of project affected communities early in the project cycle, and prior to major project developments or changes that would significantly affect them.
- To avoid or, where that is not possible, minimise involuntary physical or economic resettlement, provide compensation for loss of assets and improve or restore the livelihoods and standards of living of people potentially resettled.
- To seek that affected communities are informed and have access to a transparent and fair non-judicial project-level grievance mechanism which operates in a timely and predictable manner.
Jaguar specifically prohibits discrimination of any kind, forced labour, human trafficking and child labour, and we are committed to safe and healthy working conditions. We recognize the right to freedom of association, collective bargaining, access to effective information and consultation procedures.
We shall implement the right procedures and plans to identify and address any actual or potential adverse human rights risks or impacts in which we may be involved, either directly or indirectly through our activities or our business relationships.
In the event of a potential violation of human rights, pertinent measures and/or sanctions will be adopted in accordance with our Code of Ethics.
We commit to promote a culture of respect for human rights among our employees and business associates. In our business relationships, we expect our partners to adhere to business principles consistent with our policies.
In Jaguar, we follow the principle that when national laws and international human rights standards differ, the highest standards will be followed.
